Many names from the art world, including the artist's nephew Müjdat Gezen, close friends, and students attended the funeral prayer held at Zincirlikuyu Mosque following the noon prayer.
The artist's nephew Fikret Okuş, in a statement to the press during the ceremony, said, "There have been so many shares in the media and on social media... I believe he is smiling at us from somewhere. I thank all of you for coming, for not leaving us alone on this farewell day, at this moment of farewell, and I thank all the loved ones of Aunt Seha."
The news of the 98-year-old artist's passing, who had been receiving treatment for a long time and was in intensive care in his final days, was announced on the social media accounts of the Müjdat Gezen Art Center.
SEHA OKUŞ BECAME KNOWN WITH THE SONG "HASRETİNLE YANDI GÖNLÜM"
The artist, who served for 35 years at the Istanbul Municipal Conservatory and Istanbul Radio, had taken lessons from Münir Nurettin Selçuk, Şefik Gümeriç, Emin Ongan, Halil Bedi Yönetken, Nevzat Atlığ, and Mefharet Yıldırım.
Known for songs like "Hasretinle Yandı Gönlüm," "Burçak Tarlası," and "Seher Vakti Bülbül Ağlar," Okuş had also performed the music for the films "Dönüş," "Mahpus," "Toprak Ana," "Açlık," and "Kuma."
