Former Hatay Metropolitan Mayor Lütfü Savaş, speaking about the appeal process that came to the agenda after the lawsuit regarding the 38th Ordinary Congress of the CHP, alleged that the first application to the Court of Cassation was made by Özgür Özel. Also commenting on his expulsion from the party, Savaş said, "The absolute nullity decision means that all decisions taken are void."
Former Hatay Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Lütfü Savaş made statements regarding the appeal process that began after the "absolute nullity" decision in the case concerning the 38th Ordinary Congress of the CHP. Savaş claimed that the first application to the Court of Cassation was made by CHP Chairman Özgür Özel.
VISITED KILIÇDAROĞLU
Savaş, who came to CHP headquarters to visit Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu, who returned to duty after the 'absolute nullity' decision, answered questions from the press.
"ÖZGÜR ÖZEL MADE THE FIRST APPLICATION"
Assessing the appeal process, Savaş stated that they were waiting for the possibility of reconciliation between the two sides and said:
"Mr. Özgür Özel's lawyer immediately applied to the Court of Cassation. I think we applied only yesterday. We waited to see if there would be a compromise or an agreement between the two sides. In fact, I mentioned this in an interview three days ago on a news channel. But when we saw that the previous administration of the Republican People's Party did not withdraw its petition, we had no choice but to submit our petition yesterday. However, the first to apply to the Court of Cassation was Mr. Özgür Özel. They applied immediately. We waited, and since they did not withdraw, we also made our application against this decision yesterday."
"THE EXPULSION DECISION IS NULL AND VOID"
Savaş also responded to a question regarding his expulsion from the party. Drawing attention to the consequences of the absolute nullity decision, Savaş said:
"The absolute nullity decision indicates that all decisions taken are null and void. The Supreme Disciplinary Board also confirmed this recently. Now, there is no obstacle for our approximately 1,800 friends who were suspended from the party to remain in the party. All of those friends, including us, are currently in the party."
"WE ARE CHP SUPPORTERS AT HEART"
Responding to the question of whether he would officially return to the party, Savaş said that his connection with the CHP cannot be assessed solely through membership.
Savaş used the following expressions in his statement:
"Now, apart from official membership, there is something called heartfelt membership in Atatürk's party. In this country, you can divide people into right-wing, left-wing, social democrat, conservative, liberal, but the person with the most supporters in this country is Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk. Eighty-five percent of our people admire, respect, and love Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk. I am one of those who love him. Being under his umbrella is an honor for us, and we do not carry this honor with a written document. We carry it with our spirit, with our heart. It does not matter to us whenever the Court of Cassation concludes. We are in the Republican People's Party wholeheartedly."
Lütfü Savaş's statements drew attention as a new evaluation during the period when discussions surrounding the congress process and judicial decisions in the CHP continue.
