US President Donald Trump, stating that the Strait of Hormuz will be open to the passage of all ships except Iranian ones, reversed his decision to take a 20 percent share from the passages. Trump said, "We will not take money from Hormuz, the Gulf will invest in the US."
U.S. President Donald Trump has abandoned his previous decision to take a 20% share from ships passing through the Strait of Hormuz.
Trump, stating that the Strait of Hormuz is open to international maritime traffic, said that ships linked to Iran would not be allowed passage. In a statement on social media, Trump said, "We will impose a total blockade on Iran, but this will only apply to ships coming to and from Iranian ports or carrying anything related to Iranian cargo."
The U.S. President stated, "Based on extremely productive talks with Middle Eastern leaders, I have decided that the Trade and Investment Agreements various Gulf States will make with the U.S. will replace the 20% U.S. Repayment Fee (Strait transit fee). These investments will be enormous, but they will also be extraordinarily beneficial for them and their future."
Donald Trump also said, "These new investments will further increase this figure, and we will see factories, facilities, and equipment flowing into the U.S. at historic levels, creating millions of high-paying American jobs! America is winning again, winning like never before."
