News that disappoints those expecting a discount on fuel.

Following the decline in oil prices due to eased tensions in the Middle East, the anticipated 3.97 TL reduction in diesel fuel at midnight tonight has been blocked by a Special Consumption Tax (SCT) regulation. Since the entire discount amount will be transferred to SCT, there will be no change in display or pump prices.

With falling tensions in the Middle East, declining oil prices have created expectations of a reduction in fuel prices. However, the anticipated 3.97 TL reduction in diesel, expected to take effect at midnight tonight, has been used for the Special Consumption Tax (SCT) increase. Therefore, there will be no change in pump prices.

HOPE FOR PEACE IN THE MIDDLE EAST DROPS OIL PRICES

The emergence of a possibility of an agreement on the tension line in the Middle East and the significant cessation of conflicts have led to sharp declines in oil prices on international markets. This decline in global markets has created significant expectations of a fuel price reduction in the domestic market.

3.97 TL REDUCTION BLOCKED BY SCT OBSTACLE

Following the reduction that came overnight, a new reduction of 3.97 TL, effective from midnight tonight, had been calculated for the diesel group. However, the expectation was not reflected at the pump. According to information reported by journalist Olcay Aydilek, the entire 3.97 TL reduction planned for diesel was cut for the SCT adjustment. Since the SCT was increased by an amount corresponding to the price increase, the pump sale price that drivers will see on the board remained unchanged.

A SIMILAR SITUATION OCCURRED YESTERDAY

A similar situation emerged in diesel prices last night as well. Under normal conditions, of the reduction amount calculated as 6 lira 37 kurus, 5.32 TL was allocated to the SCT regulation, and only a reduction of 1 lira 5 kurus was reflected in pump prices.

CURRENT DIESEL PRICES

With no change in pump prices, current diesel prices per liter in major cities are listed as follows:

  • Istanbul: 80.00 TL
  • Ankara: 81.12 TL
  • Izmir: 81.40 TL
