Nihat Kahveci harshly criticized Fenerbahçe after their 3-0 loss to Nottingham Forest, saying, "I was scared, it could have been 4-5; they looked like a team that had just been formed a day ago."
Reactions continue after Fenerbahçe's 3-0 defeat at home to Nottingham Forest in the UEFA Europa League Round of 16 play-off. Sports commentator and former national football player Nihat Kahveci harshly criticized the performance of the yellow-blues.
"IT COULD HAVE BEEN 4-5"
Kahveci, who stated that he was more upset by the image on the field than the score of the match, said, "In the 50th minute, the score was 3-0, I was terrified. It could have been 4-5. In football, you win, draw, or lose, but you can't lose this badly. A huge team like Fenerbahçe... You're playing at home. There wasn't a single exciting moment in the first half," he expressed.
"AS IF THE TEAM WAS FORMED A DAY AGO"
Kahveci, who said that Fenerbahçe was lacking fighting spirit, remarked, "What happened to this Fenerbahçe? They used to run, they used to fight. Today, that's not there either. It's as if the squad was formed a day ago, they just entered the camp for the first time, and they went out to play after just one training session. There's no harmony in the offense or defense. They broke our hearts," he said.
"THIS DIFFERENCE WAS CREATED BY TEDESCO AND THE PLAYERS"
Kahveci directed his criticisms towards head coach Domenico Tedesco and the players, stating, "You go into the match with the badge of the unbeaten team in the Super League. Normally, this difference shouldn't be this big. Today, Tedesco and the players created this difference. They shouldn't take it personally. It's a shame for the fans. There isn't a single good player today," he expressed his frustration.
"DRIBBLED 55 METERS AND SCORED"
Kahveci pointed out Nottingham Forest's comfortable play, saying, "Their left-back was like Roberto Carlos. Except for their goalkeeper, everyone got into position. One center-back dribbled 55 meters and scored in Kadıköy! How are you going to get through this round?" he stated.
