In the third wave of the 'bribery' and 'graft' investigation into the Kuşadası Municipality, 15 suspects were detained. Among those detained were lawyer Ezgi Tezcan Yaşar, daughter of Aydın New Party Deputy Bülent Tezcan, and her husband, lawyer Umut Yaşar. Within the scope of the investigation, proceedings were initiated against a total of 21 suspects, and arrest warrants were issued for 7 suspects.
In the third wave of the "bribery" and "extortion" investigation targeting Kuşadası Municipality, notable names were detained. Ezgi Tezcan Yaşar, a lawyer and daughter of Aydın New Party Deputy Bülent Tezcan, and her husband, lawyer Umut Yaşar, were among the detained suspects.
THIRD WAVE OF OPERATION CARRIED OUT
The third wave of operations was carried out within the scope of the "bribery" and "extortion" investigation conducted by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office in connection with Kuşadası Municipality.
On August 7, 2026, teams conducted simultaneous operations at designated addresses in Izmir, Aydın, and Antalya. Within the scope of the investigation, proceedings were initiated against 21 suspects based on witness statements, suspects' statements of effective remorse, HTS records, and account movements examined in MASAK reports.
BÜLENT TEZCAN'S DAUGHTER AND SON-IN-LAW ALSO ON THE LIST
Among the names against whom proceedings were initiated within the scope of the operation were Ezgi Tezcan Yaşar, daughter of Aydın New Party Deputy Bülent Tezcan, and her husband Umut Yaşar.
In the suspect list announced by the prosecutor's office, the professions of Ezgi Tezcan Yaşar and Umut Yaşar were stated as lawyers.
The Chief Public Prosecutor's Office announced that 15 suspects, for whom detention orders were issued during the simultaneous operations, were apprehended, and arrest warrants were issued for 7 suspects.
INVESTIGATION CONTINUES ON "BRIBERY" AND "EXTORTION" CHARGES
The Chief Public Prosecutor's Office reported that witness statements, statements of effective remorse, HTS records, and account movements in reports prepared by MASAK obtained within the scope of the investigation were evaluated together.
The prosecutor's office stated that, as a result of these data, a "reasonable suspicion of crime" was reached indicating that the crimes subject to the investigation had been committed. It was noted that the investigation continues with the aim of revealing the material truth in all its aspects.
MAYOR WAS ARRESTED IN THE FIRST OPERATION
In the first operation of the investigation targeting Kuşadası Municipality, 6 suspects, including Kuşadası Mayor Ömer Günel, were detained.
Among the suspects referred to the court, Ömer Günel, Building Control Manager Mustafa Burak Gündeş, municipal architect and city planner Meral Celep, businessman and former Kuşadasıspor Club President Ferdi Zenginoğlu, and businessman Hüseyin Kabasakal were arrested. A judicial control measure was imposed on Zoning and Urbanization Manager Ahmet Taşkan.
