The DEM Party shared the statements of terrorist leader Abdullah Öcalan, whom they met in Imralı yesterday, regarding the events in Syria. In the statement made by the party, it was noted that "Öcalan expressed extreme concern due to the conflicts and increasing tensions, evaluating this situation as an attempt to undermine the Peace and Democratic Society Process. He insisted that all problems in Syria can only be solved through dialogue, negotiation, and common sense, and that they must be resolved."

Members of the DEM Party İmralı Delegation, Pervin Buldan, Mithat Sancar, and Özgür Faik Erol, met with terrorist organization leader Abdullah Öcalan on İmralı Island yesterday.

STATEMENT REGARDING THE MEETING FROM THE DEM PARTY

A statement regarding the two and a half hour meeting was shared on the DEM Party's social media account. The statement included the following expressions: "On January 17, 2026, we held a meeting with Mr. Abdullah Öcalan that lasted approximately two and a half hours on İmralı. During the meeting, Mr. Öcalan expressed that he is committed to the Peace and Democratic Society Process and that the perspective of February 27 remains valid. In this context, he once again emphasized the importance of taking necessary steps to advance the process.
