With the decision published in the Official Gazette signed by President Erdoğan, Okay Memiş has been appointed as the Secretary General of the National Security Council. Ali Hamza Pehlivan, the Governor of Mersin, has been appointed to the position of President of AFAD, which was vacated by Memiş.
According to the decision published in the Official Gazette, an appointment was made to the General Secretariat of the National Security Council. Okay Memiş, the President of the Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD), was appointed to the secretariat. Ali Hamza Pehlivan was appointed to the AFAD Presidency, which was vacated by Memiş.
WHO IS OKAY MEMİŞ?
Okay MEMİŞ was born in 1970 in the Piraziz District of Giresun. He graduated from the Faculty of Political Sciences at Istanbul University in 1991. He started his career as a District Governor Candidate at the Ordu Governorship in 1992.
After serving as the District Governor of Sarıyahşi/Aksaray, Genç/Bingöl, and Orta/Çankırı, he worked at the Ministry of Interior's General Directorate of Local Administrations from 2002 to 2013, respectively, as Branch Manager, Department Head, and Deputy General Manager.
After working for a short time as a Legal Advisor at the Ministry of Interior, he served as the Chief Advisor to the Ministry of Science, Industry, and Technology. He was appointed as the Governor of Gümüşhane with the Governors Decree published in the Official Gazette on June 1, 2016.
Governor Okay Memiş, who speaks English well, is married to Pharmacist Sibel Hanımefendi and has two children. İbrahim Taşyapan has been appointed as the President of the Disaster and Emergency Management Authority with the decisions published in the Official Gazette on Friday, August 11.
