Formula 1's world-famous driver Lewis Hamilton once again reiterated his support for Palestine. Speaking ahead of the US Grand Prix, the Ferrari driver said that efforts should be made for the freedom of Palestine as well as Congo, Sudan, and Syria. Hamilton argued that a significant part of the problems in Africa stems from colonialism and Western interventions.

Lewis Hamilton, one of the most recognizable names in Formula 1, once again voiced his support for Palestine. The British Ferrari driver made striking remarks about global conflicts, Africa's problems, and the struggle for freedom during a press conference held in Austin ahead of the US Grand Prix.

“WE MUST STRIVE TO FREE PALESTINE”

The 41-year-old driver, who had previously made statements in support of Palestine, reiterated his call for peace and said:

“We need to make sure we are making efforts to free Congo, Sudan, Syria, and Palestine. There is so much peace that I hope we will reach at some point.”

Hamilton's remarks were not limited to Palestine. The famous driver also drew attention to the problems experienced in African countries and stressed that the international public should be more informed about developments in the region.

“MOST OF THE PROBLEMS ARE THE RESULT OF COLONIALISM”

Stating that visiting Rwanda does not mean ignoring the problems experienced in the region, Hamilton said that people need to become conscious of Africa's past and present. The famous driver said, “I hope many people start to educate themselves a little more about what is happening there and what has been happening for centuries. I hope this starts a discussion.”

Hamilton also touched on the historical causes of the problems Africa faces and assessed, “Most of the problems there are still the result of colonialism and Western intervention.”

HE WANTS FORMULA 1 TO RETURN TO AFRICA

Hamilton also explained that he has been making efforts for many years to have Formula 1 races held on the African continent again. The British driver, stating that he has met many times with Formula 1 CEO Stefano Domenicali and heads of state of various African countries for this purpose, expressed that Africa, with its rich culture, deserves a Grand Prix organization.

Hamilton, who also argued that African history should have a larger place in the school curriculum in the UK, drew attention to the continent's cultural and economic potential.

“IF AFRICA UNITES, IT WILL BE VERY STRONG”

Touching on Africa's natural resources and its contributions to world culture, Hamilton stated that he is hopeful about the continent's future. Hamilton said, “Today, many designs of the biggest brands come from Africa, and the continent has very rich resources. I really hope Africa will unite. I know there are those who do not want this because they would be very strong if they united, but my hope that they will unite at some point continues.”

On the other hand, Formula 1 is expected to organize a race in Africa again in the early 2030s. The organization held its last race on the continent in 1993 at Kyalami Circuit in South Africa.
