In an operation against a gang that committed fraud by posing as police and other official persons in Istanbul, 73 people were detained. It was determined that the fraudsters had gained an unjust profit of 50 million TL.
An operation was carried out against suspects who defrauded citizens by posing as police officers, judges, prosecutors, and bank officials in Istanbul. During the operation, 73 suspects were detained, and 11 luxury vehicles and 2 plots of land were subjected to annotation procedures.
THEY DECEIVED PEOPLE WITH THE LIE "YOUR IDENTITY INFORMATION HAS BEEN USED"
According to the Istanbul Police Department's Cyber Crime Division, coordinated by the Gaziosmanpaşa Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, it was determined that the criminal organization operated through call centers established in Istanbul and Izmir; they called citizens using open lines and communication lines obtained from abroad, introducing themselves as police officers, judges, prosecutors, or bank officials.
It was understood that the suspects created psychological pressure and fear on the victims with false statements such as "your identity information has been used," "your name is involved with a terrorist organization," and "money has been withdrawn from your account"; they organized and planned their fraudulent activities by convincing individuals through this method.
IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THEY OBTAINED UNLAWFUL PROFITS OF 50 MILLION LIRA
It was determined that the suspects obtained approximately 50 million TL in unlawful profits from the victims as part of their systematic fraud activities.
A simultaneous operation was conducted in a total of 20 provinces centered in Istanbul to capture the suspects, resulting in the detention of 73 suspects, and 11 luxury vehicles and 2 plots of land were subjected to annotation procedures.
