In an operation targeting a network accused of trafficking women through escort sites in Istanbul and Izmir, 13 suspects were detained. Following a 3-month surveillance, numerous phones, SIM cards, and notebooks were seized during the raids, and of the suspects sent to court, 9 were arrested while 5 were released under judicial control.
A large-scale operation was carried out against a network that allegedly directed women to men for money through escort sites on the internet in Istanbul. Thirteen suspects were detained in raids conducted in Istanbul and Izmir.
In the investigation carried out by the Public Order Branch, Moral Bureau, and Technical Surveillance Monitoring Bureau teams, the suspects were identified after approximately three months of technical and physical surveillance.
SIMULTANEOUS RAIDS IN 11 DISTRICTS
The teams simultaneously conducted operations at a total of 23 addresses in Bakırköy, Fatih, Eyüpsultan, Maltepe, Esenyurt, Beylikdüzü, Avcılar, Bahçelievler, Gaziosmanpaşa, Şişli, and Beyoğlu, as well as in Izmir. In addition to the network members, six women who were assessed to have been forced into prostitution were also found.
During the searches conducted at the suspects' addresses, 20 mobile phones, 30 SIM cards, two notebooks containing customer information, and a certain amount of cash were seized.
9 PEOPLE ARRESTED
The suspects, whose procedures at the police station were completed, were referred to the courthouse. The court decided to arrest nine suspects, while five were released under judicial control. It was learned that one of the women found during the operation was deported, while the others were released.
