Our national wrestler Nesrin Baş became the owner of the gold medal when her opponent could not compete in the final of the European Wrestling Championships women's 68 kg due to injury.
At the European Championship held in Tirana, Albania, national wrestler Nesrin Baş, competing in the 68 kg category, defeated her Swedish opponent Tindra L. Sjöberg with a technical superiority of 11-0 in the quarterfinals and advanced to the semifinals.
DEFEATED HER OPPONENTS ONE BY ONE AND REACHED THE FINAL
The national wrestler faced independent athlete Alina Shevchenko in the semifinals and won with a technical superiority of 12-1, securing her place in the final.
NESRİN BAŞ BECOMES EUROPEAN CHAMPION FOR THE SECOND TIME
Baş won the gold medal for the second time as independent athlete Alina Shauchuk could not compete due to an injury. Nesrin Baş had also won a gold medal at the European Championship held in Bucharest, Romania in 2024.
The national wrestler, who is also a two-time European champion in the U23 category, has a silver medal from the Senior World Championship and three gold medals from making four finals in the U23 World Championship, marking a historic achievement. Additionally, having won two gold medals in the U23 European Championship, Nesrin Baş is among the most successful names in women's wrestling.
