In New York, a demolition operation was held as a show of force against illegal motorcycles used by crime networks as "ghost vehicles," disturbing the city's peace. Over 200 illegal motorcycles and scooters gathered on Staten Island were crushed into piles of metal within seconds under the tracks of giant bulldozers.

In an operation conducted by police teams in New York City, USA, over 200 illegal motorcycles and scooters were seized. The New York City Police Department (NYPD) stated that the seized vehicles were used in criminal incidents. Hundreds of motorcycles were crushed under the tracks of giant bulldozers within seconds, turning into piles of metal.

“ZERO TOLERANCE” MESSAGE GIVEN

In the destruction operation carried out at the sanitation garage on Staten Island, numerous motorcycles and scooters were shattered by bulldozers. Authorities stated that unregistered vehicles were causing serious safety issues in the city and announced a “zero tolerance” policy against illegal use.

OVER 5,700 VEHICLES SEIZED

NYPD Commissioner Jessica Tisch announced that more than 5,700 illegal motorcycles and scooters had been collected citywide since the beginning of 2026. Authorities noted an approximately 10% increase in the number of seized vehicles compared to last year.

FOUND TO BE USED IN CRIMINAL INCIDENTS

Police officials stated that unlicensed or uninsured motorcycles were frequently used in crimes such as robbery, snatch theft, and armed assault. The statement emphasized that some suspects preferred these vehicles to escape crime scenes.

STERN WARNING

Staten Island Borough President Vito Fossella, who participated in the operation, gave a stern message to those using illegal vehicles. Fossella said, “Those who use these vehicles unlawfully will be brought to justice, and their vehicles will be seized.”
