The CHP Congress has concluded, and Özgür Özel has been re-elected as the party leader. While some names close to İmamoğlu were left out of the PM list, the inclusion of names from DEVA, Gelecek, DP, and the İYİ Party drew attention. The changes in the list have led to comments about a reshaping of internal party dynamics.
CHP's 39th Ordinary Congress was completed at the Ankara Sports Hall with the slogan "Now is the Time for Power." Özgür Özel, who entered the election as the sole candidate, was re-elected as the party leader with the support of the delegates. The congress also determined the members of the 80-person Party Council and the 15-person High Disciplinary Board.
ÖZEL'S KEY LIST PASSED WITHOUT A FLAW
The 70-person "key list" announced by Özel received full support from the delegates. 12 names from the previous Party Council were excluded from the list. Notable names among these are Yalçın Görgöz, Ali Haydar Hakverdi, Semra Dinçer, and Baran Bozoğlu.
NAMES CLOSE TO İMAMOĞLU ARE NOT ON THE LIST
The most talked-about name among those excluded from the list was Berkay Gezgin, who is remembered for İBB President Ekrem İmamoğlu's slogan "Everything will be very beautiful." This situation reignited discussions in party circles about the "Özel–İmamoğlu power balance." The change in the statute made on the first day of the congress, which increased the number of Party Council members from 60 to 80, was interpreted as Özel's move to reduce the influence of names close to İmamoğlu. Nevertheless, it is reported that some names close to İmamoğlu were included in the list due to concerns about reactions. One of them was Baki Aydöner, who has faced corruption allegations in indictments.
NAMES WITH RIGHT-WING BACKGROUND STOOD OUT IN THE NEW PARTY COUNCIL
Özgür Özel's Party Council list included 32 new names. Among these, the notable ones are:
- Evrim Rızvanoğlu, who left the DEVA Party
- Former İYİ Party member Bahadır Erdem
- Former Democrat Party member Salih Uzun
- Former members of the Future Party Serkan Özcan and Kerim Rota
These preferences led to evaluations within the party that "CHP has shifted to the right."
NAMES WITH THE MOST VOTES
Özgür Özel, who was elected as the CHP General Chairman for the fourth time in the last two years, also received approval from the delegates for the key list he prepared for the Party Council. Özel's lists for the High Disciplinary Board and the Science Culture Art Platform (BKSP) were also elected without any flaws. The names that received the most votes in the Party Council elections were CHP's 27th Term Member of Parliament Polat Şaroğlu, tax expert Ozan Bingöl, CHP Istanbul Member of Parliament Ali Gökçek, and CHP MYK members Gamze Taşçıer and Deniz Yavuzyılmaz.
