The leader of the CHP, Özgür Özel, left the İBB building in Saraçhane, where he had been staying for 7 days following the election of the İBB Vice President. As he left the building, Özel said goodbye to the staff one by one.
Following the detention of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu on March 19 as part of the investigations against IMM initiated by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, rallies were held in Saraçhane, starting with the call of the CHP and continuing with his arrest. CHP Chairman Özgür Özel has been staying at the IMM building in Saraçhane since March 19, where he made speeches during the rallies.
FAREWELL TO THE STAFF AND DEPARTED
Özgür Özel met with the people of Istanbul for the last time this evening in Saraçhane. After the election of the IMM Deputy Mayor, he bid farewell to the staff and left the IMM building where he had been for 7 days.
NURI ASLAN BECAME THE IMM DEPUTY MAYOR
After İmamoğlu's arrest, the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Council voted to elect a deputy mayor upon the decision of the Istanbul Governorship. In the third round of voting, Nuri Aslan received 177 votes, while Zeynel Abidin Okul received 125 votes. As a result of the third round, where an absolute majority was sought, CHP's candidate Nuri Aslan was elected as the IMM Deputy Mayor.
