New Party Chairman Özgür Özel stated that he accidentally let slip a major project they had prepared as an election surprise at a women's gathering in Kayseri, and shared the details. Özel announced that when they come to power, the state will pay the insurance premiums of housewives who are not provided with nursery or job opportunities and cannot work due to care responsibilities, and said that housewives would thus be retired.
The new party chairman Özgür Özel announced a new project prepared for the retirement of housewives at a women's gathering held in Kayseri. Özel announced that the state will cover the insurance premiums of housewives who cannot work due to lack of childcare and employment opportunities or care responsibilities.
Meeting with women at the program in Kayseri, Özgür Özel made striking assessments on social state policies and universal basic income. Detailing the project he had to announce early, Özel emphasized that they will provide assurance to housewives if they come to power.
"IT WAS AN ELECTION SURPRISE, I LET IT SLIP"
Stating that he mentioned the project, which they planned to announce during the election period, during his contacts in Kocaeli, Özgür Özel explained the functioning of the system with these words: "There is something called universal basic income. If we haven't found you a job, if we haven't been able to give you a salary, there will be a basic income; that will be given directly to the housewife herself in the family. A third thing, a surprise... We were going to say it at the election, but yesterday in Kocaeli I let it slip, and the newspapers also wrote it. Under the new party government, if there is no nursery in a neighborhood, if a woman wants to work but cannot find a job, or if she has no chance to work due to the number of children, elderly or disabled people at home; the state will pay the insurance of the woman working at home. Housewives will retire by working at home. This is our main project."
"WILL BE OUR GREATEST GIFT TO TURKISH WOMEN"
Referring to the historical process of social security steps, Özgür Özel recalled the union and social rights introduced during Bülent Ecevit's period. Comparing the reform they will make with the rights Atatürk gave to women, Özel continued his speech as follows: "Bülent Ecevit brought unions, the right to retirement, sickness and old age insurance to Turkey. Just as Atatürk first saved the country and then gave Turkish women the right to vote and be elected, this will be the greatest gift of us, who defend Atatürk's views, to Turkish women. All of these troubles described stem from poverty, unemployment, and lack of security."
