New Party Chairman Özgür Özel spoke about Ankara Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Mansur Yavaş’s meeting with Minister of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change Murat Kurum. In a statement during a live broadcast he attended, Özel said, 'I am aware of Mansur Yavaş’s meeting with Murat Kurum; it is a perfectly normal meeting. We have no suspicion of Mayor Mansur. We are in constant dialogue. We have not the slightest problem between us. He is an important presidential candidate option for Turkey.'

In a post on his social media account regarding the meeting, Minister Kurum said, "We received Ankara Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Mansur Yavaş at our Ministry. We evaluated the needs of our capital, our work in the field of urbanism, and issues for the upcoming period. We will continue to work with common sense for our Ankara and to support every step that will add value to the lives of our fellow citizens."
