In Adıyaman, one of the provinces most affected by the earthquakes on February 6, CHP Chairman Özgür Özel spoke at an event and called on the government to establish a Ministry of Earthquakes. Özel stated, "Let's find the money together from the world, but let's not put our people to bed every night facing death."
CHP General Chairman Özgür Özel, who came to Adıyaman on the second anniversary of the Kahramanmaraş-centered earthquakes on February 6, attended the Groundbreaking Ceremony for the Wedding Hall and Multi-Purpose Halls built by the İzmir Metropolitan Municipality.
"ESTABLISH A MINISTRY OF EARTHQUAKE AND NATURAL DISASTER PREPAREDNESS"
In his speech at the ceremony, Özel stated that one of the most indescribable pains in Turkish history was experienced on February 6, and called on the government to establish a 'Ministry of Earthquake'.
Özel used the following expressions in his statement regarding the issue: "In the two face-to-face meetings I had with Mr. Erdoğan, I made a warning. I said, 'Mr. President, we have experienced the earthquake, we have seen it, we know it. Now there will either be a major destruction in Istanbul, in the Aegean, or somewhere else. If not today, then tomorrow; if not tomorrow, then next month; if not next month, then next year. But it is coming. There are not enough preparations. We need to approach this matter seriously and above politics. I suggest to you: Establish a Ministry of Earthquake and Natural Disaster Preparedness.'
"REQUEST A DEPUTY MINISTER FROM ALL PARTIES"
Appoint someone with the qualifications, abilities, and competencies that we can all say 'Okay, this is the right thing' at the head of this ministry. Moreover, turn to all political parties with a group in the Parliament; request a deputy minister from DEM, CHP, İYİ Party, and New Path Party. You also provide a deputy minister from the AK Party. Let there be a minister at the top whom no one will dispute, and parties that share responsibilities equally and put their hands under the stone.
