In the Fethiye district of Muğla, pilot Ali Kıdıl and Chinese tourist Xiangrui Meng, who were doing tandem paragliding from Babadağ, lost their lives when the parachute fell. Teams reached the bodies after a difficult 10-hour effort.
In a paragliding accident on Babadağ in the world-famous Ölüdeniz neighborhood of Muğla's Fethiye district, pilot Ali Kıdıl and Chinese tourist Xiangrui Meng lost their lives.
FELL SHORTLY AFTER TAKEOFF
According to the information obtained, in the morning hours, pilot Ali Kıdıl and Chinese tourist Xiangrui Meng performed a tandem (dual) flight from Babadağ's 1,900-meter takeoff point. Shortly after takeoff, the parachute fell into a rocky and steep area for reasons not yet determined.
BODIES REACHED AFTER 10-HOUR EFFORT
Upon the report of other paragliding pilots who witnessed the accident, UMKE and Gendarmerie Search and Rescue (JAK) teams were dispatched to the area. The teams, who had difficulty reaching the area due to the steep and rocky terrain, carried out a challenging rescue operation lasting approximately 10 hours.
In the operation, which was also supported by helicopter, the teams reached the lifeless bodies of the two people in the rocky area. It was learned that operations in the area are ongoing, and the bodies will be recovered from the area and taken to the hospital morgue.
