The US and Iran continue mutual attacks despite the June ceasefire, while Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian stated that Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei, the final authority in the country, has instructed in private meetings that the "neither war nor peace" situation must be ended.
Iranian President Pezeshkian announced that Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei gave instructions regarding the war in a special meeting.
In a speech at a ceremony held for Iran's National Industry and Mining Day, Pezeshkian stated that all decisions in the country are made in line with the instructions of Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei, and noted that his contacts with him have increased recently. Pezeshkian recorded that Mojtaba Khamenei gave instructions in special meetings that the state of "neither war nor peace" should be ended.
DREW ATTENTION TO SOLIDARITY IN THE COUNTRY
Pezeshkian, saying that Iran's stance in negotiations is based on the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz to oil exports and the resolution of other vital issues, accused the US of not complying with its commitments. Pezeshkian said, "Targeting infrastructure was aimed at weakening the country. However, internal solidarity and the resistance of producers and industrialists prevented these goals from being achieved."
Pezeshkian, stating that after the US and Israel failed to achieve their goals in the war, they turned to the path of negotiation, also targeted criticisms of negotiations from within the country. Pezeshkian stated that such statements belittle Iran's achievements, using the words, "Do not belittle the efforts of the negotiation team with thoughtless comments."
HAS NOT APPEARED IN PUBLIC SINCE TAKING OFFICE
While Mojtaba Khamenei continues to avoid appearing in public after being appointed to the position of Supreme Leader in March, this situation increases speculation about Khamenei's health. Allegations have also been put forward that Mojtaba Khamenei was injured in the attack that killed his predecessor and father, Ali Khamenei, in US and Israeli strikes, and these allegations were later confirmed by Iranian officials.
IRAN-PAKISTAN CONTACTS
Meanwhile, Iranian Interior Minister Eskandar Momeni visited Islamabad, the capital of Pakistan, which has taken on a mediation role between Washington and Tehran. Momeni met there with General Asim Munir, Commander of the Pakistan Army.
Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Ismail Baqaei also stated in a press conference yesterday that, despite US attacks on Iran, diplomatic contacts between the two countries continue through mediators.
CONFLICTS CONTINUE
Military tension between the US and Iran also continues. The US Central Command (CENTCOM) announced early in the day that attacks on Iran continued into their tenth consecutive night. CENTCOM reported that military command centers, naval capabilities, missile and drone launch sites, and air defense systems were targeted, and that the aim was to weaken Iran's capacity to attack commercial ships passing through the Strait of Hormuz. In response, Iran announced that it had carried out new attacks targeting Kuwait, Bahrain, and Jordan.
