Majid Adine, who was detained during economic protests in Iran and sentenced to death for participating in anti-regime actions, has been executed. Thousands of people are reported to have been killed in the incidents.
In connection with the street protests in Iran that began for economic reasons and turned into anti-regime demonstrations, the sentence of Majid Adineh, who was sentenced to death on charges of "acting in favor of the US and Israel and operating against Iran's security and national interests," has been carried out.
In a written statement by Iran's Judiciary, it was stated that the death sentence for Adineh, who was detained on January 9 in Karaj during the street protests across the country, was upheld by Iran's Supreme Court, and the sentence was executed in the morning hours.
Adineh, who was alleged to have been found with 3 magazines, 30 rounds of ammunition, 2 electric shock devices, 2 tear gas sprays, a rechargeable saw, and gasoline bottles upon his capture, had been sentenced to death on charges of "participating in protests aimed at overthrowing the regime, being aware of calls from the US, Israel, and pro-monarchy groups."
PROTESTS IN IRAN
Protests that began on December 28, 2025, led by shopkeepers in Tehran's Grand Bazaar due to the rapid depreciation of the local currency against foreign exchange and deepening economic hardships had spread across the country.
Following the incidents that broke out during the protests intensifying in the capital Tehran on January 8, the country's administration had blocked internet access.
While Iranian officials have not yet made any statement regarding the total number of people killed or injured in the incidents, the US-based Iran Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA) announced that 5,858 people had lost their lives and 41,283 people had been detained in the unrest during the protests.
3,117 PEOPLE HAD LOST THEIR LIVES IN THE PROTESTS
In a statement made on January 21 by the Forensic Medicine Organization of the Iran Martyrs and Veterans Foundation, it was stated that 3,117 people, including security forces and civilians, had lost their lives in the incidents during the protests.
It was stated that 2,427 of these individuals were security forces and civilian citizens killed by "armed terrorist groups," while no information was provided about 690 people.
