In Yozgat, one of Turkey's important grain production centers, straw baling work has begun in areas where the grain harvest has been completed. Seasonal workers earn 6-7 thousand lira per day in straw baling, which starts after the harvest.
In the Yerköy district of Yozgat, the straw left in fields harvested by combine harvesters is being baled by machines and loaded onto vehicles. Agricultural workers coming seasonally from Çağlayancerit district of Kahramanmaraş are working intensive shifts with daily earnings ranging between 6,000 and 7,000 lira.
PROVIDES HIGH INCOME IN SHORT TIME
In the baling work that begins after harvest, straw bales are loaded from fields onto trucks and delivered to livestock operations. Especially during the summer months, bale transport, which is an important source of income for seasonal workers, stands out for providing high earnings in a short time.
"WE CARRY A THOUSAND A DAY"
Veli Onaran, who went to Yozgat from the Çağlayancerit district of Kahramanmaraş for work, stated that they do bale transport in different places throughout the season and said, "We carry from fields to farms. We carry a thousand a day. Each truck carries a thousand bales. This job starts in June and ends in mid-August."
"WE EARN OUR ALLOWANCE DURING SUMMER BREAK"
Sefa Kuzu, who said daily earnings reach 6,000-7,000 lira, stated, "While studying, we earn our allowance like this during summer breaks. I was in Adana Çukurova, but I graduated. I'm waiting for an appointment. Our daily wages here come to 6,000-7,000 lira. The friends here are mostly students. We spend our summer break this way. Good earnings in a short time." - YOZGAT
