President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan attended the '4th Ziraat Bankası Agricultural Ecosystem Meeting' held at the Haliç Congress Center. In his speech here, Erdoğan announced the good news of a new credit package for farmers.

Erdoğan announced that loans would be provided with attractive opportunities of up to 10 million lira for those who want to establish greenhouses, 5 million lira for those engaged in dairy farming, and 1 million 200 thousand lira for those involved in small ruminant farming, and he also provided details of the packages.

Highlights from Erdoğan's statements:

"Today, we will both catch up and share our good news with you. I would like to especially thank our Ziraat Bank, which brings us together again after a year, the bank's valuable managers, and the Ministry of Agriculture and the Ministry of Finance for supporting the program. I hope that this year's fourth meeting, organized under the theme 'Our Business is Agriculture, Our Strength is Agriculture', will be beneficial for our agricultural sector. I congratulate our Ziraat Bank, which has been the biggest supporter of Turkish agriculture for 161 years since 1863. The agricultural loans provided by Ziraat have exceeded 700 billion lira.

Our bank alone meets 71% of the sector's credit needs. More than 90% of agricultural loans, which is 653 billion lira, consist of subsidized loans for which our government provides interest support. We cover an average of 70% of the interest for farmers who use subsidized agricultural loans from the bank.

We also provide various supports to our farmers in the field of rural development. This year, we will provide 10.2 billion lira in grants for 7,160 projects consisting of the processing, packaging, and storage of agricultural products, as well as individual irrigation. Last year, we provided grants of 715 thousand lira in 71 provinces. As a state, we stand by all those who produce and create employment with all our means, and we will continue to do so. With the rural development program IPARD, we have launched 6 calls with a total budget of 301 million euros. We will provide a total of 9.8 billion lira in grant support for 1,408 projects.

I want to express one issue; I am drawing attention to the toxic opposition mentality in our country. We are frankly disturbed by the chronic quality problem of the main opposition. They intend to undermine our economic program by saying that the farmer has this much debt. The repayment rate of loans is at 97%. In Ziraat Bank, this rate rises to 99%. There is no situation of inability to pay.

PAYMENTS WILL BE MADE TO ALL FARMERS AFFECTED BY FROST UNTIL NOVEMBER

We have not compromised our stance for 23 years. We demonstrated this during the frost incident that occurred in April. We have started to pay compensation for damages. We are also compensating for the losses of our producers who are not insured. By November, we will have covered the losses of all our farmers, both insured and uninsured. We invite our farmers to take out agricultural insurance.

"THE TURNIPS IN THE SACK ARE COMING OUT"

If there is a sinking bankruptcy, it is the disaster-mongering politics of the main opposition.

They have started to openly confess how the resources that should be spent for public service have been recklessly used to design politics, as they have walked together for years, worked together, and given high-level positions to their friends in municipalities. The small and large turnips in the sack and the tentacles of the octopus reaching different places are being revealed one by one by their own friends.

It is slowly becoming clear who the criminal organization that wraps Istanbul like a poisonous vine has extorted and who it has put on a salary. Just two years ago, we say, "God has looked upon the face of this nation" as we hear what they said about the person they deemed worthy of managing Turkey. Do not forget, there is neither the nation nor the farmer in their agenda. They lie down with suspicion and rise with invalidity. The more tragic side of the matter is this: The general chairman of the party that boasts of being a Kuvay-ı Milliye supporter is begging foreign politicians for democracy, asking them to pressure us while standing before them with hands clasped. In short, they are not only of no benefit to the nation and the country, but they also harm Turkey and our country's economy with their toxic politics. Then they come out and act as if they are populists with a can of diesel on the parliamentary podium. What can we say? May God not leave our country and nation to their mercy.

In the last 22 years, we have provided a foreign trade surplus of 110 billion lira in agriculture. We have made a total investment of 3 trillion 350 billion lira in water, which is the source of life. We have opened 10,603 facilities. We are increasingly feeling the negative effects of the climate crisis. The importance of soil, water, agriculture, and livestock is increasing. Recently, we have implemented some revolutionary regulations. We have started production planning. We are deciding which product will be planted where and in what quantity. We have announced additional incentives for citizens who will produce.

With the agricultural census we will start on July 1, we will update all data from land size to product pattern, from livestock to machinery park.

AGRICULTURAL LOAN PACKAGES

We are supporting our producers with a new credit package for establishing greenhouses. We offer loans of up to 10 million lira with a maturity of up to 10 years for greenhouse investments under 10 decares. While 20% of the investment amount must be own funds, if the farmer is young or a woman, the own funds ratio will be applied as 10%. We provide investment loans of 5 million lira with a repayment period of up to 7 years and a 1-year grace period for businesses engaged in large-scale dairy farming. We do not neglect our small ruminant producers either. We are increasing the limit of small ruminant loans in the project 'I have many reasons to live in my village' from 600 thousand lira to 1 million 200 thousand lira.
