In the forest fire that started in the Taraklı district of Sakarya and spread to Bilecik, firefighters found themselves trapped among the flames. Those moments, resembling a life-and-death struggle, were captured on camera second by second. In the footage, a firefighter can be heard saying, "We're going to burn. Get back, brother, we're going to burn. Come on, we're burning."
In the Taraklı district of Sakarya, a forest fire that started yesterday and spread to the Bilecik border due to the wind is being fought by 700 personnel, 200 vehicles, 10 fire trucks belonging to the Sakarya Metropolitan Municipality, and 20 personnel, along with 11 firefighting helicopters.
FIGHT AGAINST FLAMES CONTINUES IN SAKARYA
Intensive intervention from land and air began from the first moment of the fire. Teams worked tirelessly throughout the night; with the first light of dawn, air vehicles were also reactivated. The decrease in wind in the region slowed the spread of the flames, but the dense smoke reduced visibility, which sometimes complicates the intervention efforts. There is still an ongoing fight against active flames in the area.
"GET BACK BROTHER, WE WILL BURN"
Firefighters participating in the extinguishing efforts in the region sometimes experience difficult moments. The firefighting team, desperately trying to extinguish the flames, found themselves caught in the fire. The events were recorded second by second with a mobile phone camera. In moments of sheer desperation, firefighters shouting from among the flames said, "We will burn. Get back brother, we will burn. Come on, we are burning," which was captured in the footage.
