PRESIDENT ERDOĞAN IN HUNGARY

President Erdoğan addressed the General Session of the Fifth Summit of the European Political Community in Budapest, the capital of Hungary. Thanking Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban for his hospitality and kind invitation, Erdoğan stated, "We have gathered here to address the multifaceted security challenges facing Europe."

Stating that security challenges have gone beyond just military threats, terrorist attacks, and hybrid warfare tactics, Erdoğan noted that challenges ranging from energy supply to cyber attacks, migration movements to pandemics, and systematic violations of international law to wars affect everyone. "A significant portion of the threats to our peace, stability, and prosperity has reached dimensions that we cannot overcome alone," President Erdoğan continued his remarks as follows:

President Erdoğan's call to the West regarding PKK and FETÖ: We want to see clear cooperation

"THE PROLONGATION OF THE WAR LEAVES LESS ROOM FOR DIPLOMACY"

"We see the European Political Community as a platform where we sincerely address the common threats to our continent. Turkey will continue to serve as an island of stability with its close cultural ties to neighboring regions, strong army, deep state experience, principled foreign policy, and skilled human resources. Unfortunately, we are leaving behind the third year of the war in the European geography. The negative consequences of the war in Ukraine are deepening day by day. The prolongation of the war leaves less and less room for diplomacy. From the very beginning, we have advocated for a negotiation process where both sides are at the table and subsequently achieving a lasting, just peace."

Recalling that he met with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Kazan last week, Erdoğan noted that he had also received Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha in Ankara before this meeting. Erdoğan stated that he conveyed his messages regarding opening space for diplomacy to both parties in both meetings, expressing their readiness to do whatever is necessary for the establishment of peace and that their support for efforts towards a solution would continue. On the other hand, Erdoğan pointed out that a much greater humanitarian tragedy than the war in Ukraine, in terms of destruction and civilian casualties, is taking place in the Middle East, saying:

"THE GENOCIDE IN GAZA IS A COMMON SHAME OF HUMANITY"

"The genocide that has been ongoing in Gaza for a year is a common shame for all humanity. Recently, immoral and illegal attacks on the West Bank and Lebanon have also been added to this. Everyone with a conscience sees, accepts, and acknowledges this; considering the nearly 50,000 casualties, it is essential to exert pressure on Israel to ensure an immediate ceasefire and to allow uninterrupted and sufficient humanitarian aid to reach the region. Those who unconditionally support Israel's aggression should know that they have become partners in the crimes being committed."

"WE INITIATED AN EFFORT AT THE UN TO STOP THE ARMS TRANSFER TO ISRAEL"

President Erdoğan stated that they have initiated an effort at the United Nations to stop the transfer of arms and ammunition to Israel, and that they submitted a letter signed by more than 50 countries and international organizations to the UN Secretary-General, the UK, which is the rotating president of the UN Security Council for November, and the President of the UN General Assembly.

Emphasizing that another important issue is the recognition of Palestine as a state, Erdoğan said, "I commend the steps taken by Ireland, Norway, Spain, and Slovenia in this direction and congratulate them on behalf of my country and my nation. I believe that these recognition decisions serve as a precedent for European states that seek peace in the region. I call on all countries that have not yet recognized Palestine to do so in order to contribute to global justice and peace."

CALL TO EUROPE ON "PKK AND FETÖ"

Stating that the fight against terrorism is everyone's responsibility in cooperation and solidarity, regardless of the terrorist organizations, Erdoğan continued: "We want to see concrete cooperation from our European partners in the fight against the PKK terrorist organization. We expect our requests for judicial and administrative cooperation from European countries where FETÖ has a significant presence to be met. Although ISIS has lost territorial control in Syria and Iraq with significant contributions from our country, it still poses a threat to global security. We emphasize the importance of closely monitoring the movement of foreign terrorist fighters in West Africa and Central Asia, where the organization's focus has begun to shift, and we value cooperation in this area."

Erdoğan pointed out that Turkey has been one of the countries that has contributed the most to peace, prosperity, and stability in the Euro-Atlantic region, stating, "As one of NATO's leading allies, we continue our consultations and cooperation with our partners across a wide geography extending from the Asia-Pacific to North Africa."

TURKEY MUST BE FULLY INCLUDED IN THE EU'S DEFENSE EFFORTS

"Turkey's full inclusion in the EU's defense efforts is essential for Europe's peace and security."```html

Erdoğan stated, "We expect the immediate facilitation of our participation in the European Defence Agency and projects under the Permanent Structured Cooperation in Europe. Turkey's support is essential for finding solutions to large-scale problems affecting Europe and beyond. Hatred, Islamophobia, and racism in Europe are undermining social cohesion and stability. The increasing othering of immigrants, especially Muslims, is emerging as a new face of racism.

It should now be accepted that xenophobia and Islamophobia are fundamental human rights issues that threaten not only Muslims and immigrants but the peace and security of society as a whole. In such an uncertain period where global balances are being reestablished, it is essential for us to develop new and effective policies in almost every field. The political obstacles that hinder deeper cooperation and the prejudiced attitudes must be left behind. Otherwise, it will not be possible for Europe to catch the intellectual and economic transformations it needs."

"THERE IS NO REASONABLE EXPLANATION FOR THE BLOCKAGE OF TURKEY'S EU MEMBERSHIP PROCESS"

On this occasion, President Erdoğan noted that he wanted to draw attention to the importance of the EU's enlargement policy for the security and stability of the European continent, stating, "It is clear that a fair enlargement policy is the most important geopolitical tool of the Union." Erdoğan evaluated, "There is no reasonable explanation for the blockage of the membership process of a candidate country like Turkey, which has made significant contributions to the prosperity and security of the continent, for years. It is clear that strengthening our membership perspective in the current geopolitical context will benefit both Europe and our neighboring geography. As Turkey, we are ready for dialogue and cooperation to advance our relations with the EU on a healthy basis."
