Speaking to journalists upon his return from South Korea, President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, in his statement regarding the fund investigation on the public agenda, emphasized that the judiciary did what was necessary in the investigation and said, "People you would never expect have gotten involved." These remarks by President Erdoğan brought former Minister of Family and Social Policies Fatma Betül Sayan Kaya to mind.
President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan answered journalists' questions aboard the plane on his return from a visit to South Korea. Erdoğan, who made statements regarding the judicial process continuing with new detentions and arrests in the fund investigation and the payments to be made to rights holders, said that the relevant institutions were continuing their work in line with the road map drawn up.
"PEOPLE YOU NEVER EXPECTED HAVE GOTTEN INVOLVED IN THESE MATTERS"
Erdoğan, stating that no concession would be made in the fund investigation, expressed that legislation, administrative measures and judicial processes were being closely monitored.
Erdoğan said, "We have drawn up the necessary road map on this matter and given the necessary instructions. In line with the road map, each institution is fulfilling its own duty. That is, as I also said in my previous statements on this matter, it is not possible for us to make any concession. Legislation, administrative measures and judicial processes are all under our close monitoring. Bribery, irregularities, abuse—all of these are being uncovered one by one. Of course, there is a fact? What is this fact? You look, and people you would never expect have gotten involved in these affairs. The judiciary detects these and does what is necessary," he said.
STATE SUPERVISORY BOARD ALSO ON THE JOB
Reminding that he had assigned the State Supervisory Board within the scope of the investigation, Erdoğan stated that the board's examinations were continuing. Emphasizing that the results to emerge from these efforts were important, Erdoğan said that the Fund Coordination Board, chaired by Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz, was also meeting regularly.
Erdoğan used the statements, "As you know, I assigned the State Supervisory Board. They are also carrying out their own examinations. The result to emerge from there is also very, very important. Our Fund Coordination Board under the chairmanship of Mr. Cevdet is meeting at regular and frequent intervals. Within the framework of the decisions taken by the Board, the necessary steps are being taken regarding payments."
EXTRAORDINARY LIQUIDATION PAYMENTS HAVE STARTED
Erdoğan also touched on the repayments, one of the most curious topics in the fund investigation, and announced that payments within the scope of extraordinary liquidation had also begun after the ordinary liquidations.
Erdoğan said, "After the ordinary liquidations, as you know, as of last Friday, payments began in the extraordinary liquidations. As assured, these payments are being made without interruption."
"NO PUBLIC RESOURCES WILL BE USED"
Especially emphasizing that public resources would not be used in the liquidation process, President Erdoğan stated that payments would be made based on collections.
Erdoğan used the statements, "Managing this process without using public resources is our fundamental principle. I say this with emphasis: the use of public resources is not in question here. On the contrary, everyone will pay what they are required to pay regarding the fund, liquidations will be carried out, and after the collections are made, payments will be made to the necessary places."
"WHOEVER IS INVOLVED WILL ANSWER FOR THIS"
Stating that they were determined against irregularities in the capital markets, Erdoğan gave harsh messages to those who obtain unfair gains and are involved in market manipulation.
Erdoğan said, "Let my dear nation know very well that whoever obtains unfair gains, manipulates the capital markets, or encourages these, will answer for this. We will cleanse our capital markets of this microbe and, God willing, bring them to a healthier structure in every respect."
