Regarding the early election debates, a new statement came last month from Presidential Chief Adviser Mehmet Uçum, who had said, "There are 18 months left until the elections." Speaking on the live broadcast he joined, Mehmet Uçum said, "I also said that if it is decided to hold the election on April 16, 2028, this would have a symbolic value. Therefore, I did not say that it has largely become clear that it will only be in March or April. This is a specific date."

Presidential Chief Advisor Mehmet Uçum made a new statement regarding the early election debates. Speaking on CNN Türk live broadcast, Uçum pointed to the date of April 16, 2028.

"THE DATE OF APRIL 16, 2028 HAS A SYMBOLIC VALUE"

Uçum said the following: "I also said that if it is decided to hold an election on April 16, 2028, this would have a symbolic value. Therefore, I did not say that it has become largely clear that it will be only in March or April. This is a specific date. Let me put it very clearly regarding this election: it is a matter with a political dimension, a legal dimension, and a decision dimension.

"ERDOĞAN'S RUNNING AS A CANDIDATE ONE MORE TIME IS A SITUATION IN TURKEY'S FAVOR"

Now, in terms of its political dimension, who forms the will of Parliament? Political parties. You see a strong tendency for the elections to be held some time before their normal date. Second and most importantly, we argue that President Erdoğan's running as a candidate one more time is a situation in Turkey's favor. From the beginning, I have been saying this since October 2024."
