Abdulkadir Çay, General Manager of the Press Advertising Agency, speaking at the Digital Media Workshop organized by TİGAD in Kırşehir, stated that digital publishing has fundamentally transformed the way journalism operates. Drawing attention to the danger of disinformation, Çay said, "The value of news is now measured not only by how quickly it is produced, but also by how reliable it is."

The Digital Media Workshop organized by the Turkey Internet Journalism Association (TİGAD) started with an opening program held at the 15 July National Will Hall of Kırşehir Ahi Evran University. Bringing together numerous journalists, academics, and media representatives from different provinces of Turkey, the opening of the workshop was attended by Press Advertisement Agency General Director Abdulkadir Çay, Kırşehir Governor Murat Sefa Demiryürek, TİGAD President Okan Geçgel, Kırşehir Ahi Evran University Rector Prof. Dr. Mustafa Kasım Karahocagil, members of parliament, and protocol members. Press Advertisement Agency General Director Abdulkadir Çay made important statements regarding the future of digital journalism at the Digital Media Workshop that started in Kırşehir. Çay emphasized the importance of reliable journalism, stating that technological integration, ethical values, and economic sustainability are the three fundamental tests of digital media.

"DIGITAL MEDIA IS NO LONGER JUST A MEDIUM"

Press Advertisement Agency General Director Abdulkadir Çay, who delivered the opening speech of the workshop, stated that digital publishing has reached a very different point compared to a few years ago and said the sector is undergoing a profound transformation process. Drawing attention to the fact that artificial intelligence integrations, the impact of algorithms, and multi-platform publishing are reshaping the media sector, Çay said, "Digital publishing is no longer just a change of medium, but a process that fundamentally transforms the way journalism is done." Expressing that digital media faces three fundamental tests—technological integration, ethical values, and economic sustainability—Çay emphasized that the sector must take strong steps in these areas.

DRAWS ATTENTION TO THE DANGER OF DISINFORMATION

Drawing attention to the ever-increasing speed of information flow, Abdulkadir Çay stated that reliable journalism is more important than ever in the digital age. Noting that billions of data circulate on social media platforms, Çay expressed that false information and disinformation spread much faster than accurate information. Çay said, "The value of news is now measured not only by how quickly it is produced, but also by how reliable it is. False information and disinformation are not just problems for the media sector, but also significant issues for social peace and trust." Stating that efforts to protect content produced in digital platforms continue, Çay drew attention to the importance of regulations that protect the rights of media workers.

WORKSHOP AIMS FOR NEW IDEAS AND COLLABORATIONS

At the end of his speech, Abdulkadir Çay emphasized that the essence of journalism is humanity and its spirit is conscience, stating that technology yields beneficial results for the media only when used with correct values. Çay said the future of digital media will be shaped not only by technology but also by ethical principles and an understanding of social responsibility. Stating that the workshop organized by TİGAD will not be just a platform for discussing current problems, Çay expressed that the event will contribute to the emergence of ideas that will shape the future of digital media in Turkey and to the establishment of new collaborations. The workshop is expected to shed light on the future of digital journalism through sessions to be held in the coming days.
