It was claimed that Fatma Kaplan Hürriyet, the arrested and suspended Mayor of İzmit, reacted to New Party Kocaeli Deputy Harun Özgür Yıldızlı, who visited her in prison, by saying, "You reported me, get out of here." It was also alleged that Etimesgut Mayor Erdal Beşikçioğlu used harsh words toward some individuals in prison.
Speaking on the Medya Kritik program broadcast on TGRT Haber, Fatih Atik made controversial claims about Fatma Kaplan Hürriyet, the arrested and suspended Mayor of İzmit, and Erdal Beşikçioğlu.
MP KICKED OUT OF PRISON
He claimed that Hürriyet kicked Harun Özgür Yıldızlı, the New Party Kocaeli deputy who visited her, out of the prison.
According to Atik's claims, in that meeting where the crisis within the party came to light, Hürriyet lashed out at the MP with these words:
"I am here because of you. You reported me; otherwise, I wouldn't have gone to prison. Get out of here, get lost!"
Stating that the situation escalated further after this harsh argument, Atik reported in an additional post on his social media account that the MP, who had to cut the visit short due to reactions, fell ill in the prison.
BEŞİKÇİOĞLU'S REBELLION: GOD CURSE THEM ALL
It was also claimed that another source of the crisis was Erdal Beşikçioğlu, the also suspended Mayor of Etimesgut. Atik argued that Beşikçioğlu, in a meeting with his lawyers, rebelled against the situation, blamed the deputy mayor for responsibility, and claimed he used the following statements:
"God curse them all, I am in prison because of them."
CRITICISM OF ÖZGÜR ÖZEL REGARDING 'DRUGS' AND 'CANDIDACY'
In the program, Atik also touched upon Özgür Özel's press conference held in Parliament, arguing that journalists refrained from directing certain grave claims to Özel. Atik expressed his criticism with these words:
"No one has asked whether the Etimesgut Mayor and his deputy used drugs. If they had, I wonder what Özgür Özel would have answered?"
The journalist, also recalling Beşikçioğlu's controversial candidacy process, commented, "They took on Mansur Yavaş to make Erdal Beşikçioğlu the mayor of Etimesgut. The CHP narrowly avoided a major crisis back then."
"WHAT WILL HAPPEN IF NAMES ARE MENTIONED IN STATEMENTS?"
Fatih Atik, emphasizing that the process within the New Party could reach much more different dimensions, drew attention to the possibility that additional statements the arrested mayors might give to the prosecutor's office in the future could create a political earthquake. Atik posed this critical question regarding a potential scenario:
"What will happen if the Menderes Mayor says while giving a statement, 'They pressured me, I did those things under their direction'?"
