In Bursa, the police intervened with tear gas against a group that organized a protest to denounce the arrest of Ekrem İmamoğlu. Many people were detained, and it was reported that Nihat Yeşiltaş, the provincial chairman of the CHP in Bursa, was injured in the eye during the intervention.
In Bursa, a group gathered in the Millet Garden to protest the arrest and suspension of Ekrem İmamoğlu in relation to the 'corruption' investigation against the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM). When they wanted to march, the police intervened.
POLICE INTERVENED, MANY PEOPLE WERE DETAINED
As the tension turned into a scuffle, the police intervened against the demonstrators who threw flares and other incendiary materials. Police teams using water cannons also deployed tear gas. Meanwhile, it was reported that many demonstrators were detained.
CHP PROVINCIAL CHAIRMAN INJURED
It was reported that during the intervention, CHP Bursa Provincial Chairman Nihat Yeşiltaş was also injured in the eye. In a statement from the CHP Provincial Presidency, it was noted that "Republican People's Party Bursa Provincial Chairman Nihat Yeşiltaş was injured as a result of police intervention during the protest held in the evening following Ekrem İmamoğlu's arrest. Yeşiltaş's treatment is ongoing at the hospital."
