DEMONSTRATIONS AT 500 DIFFERENT LOCATIONS
The French Ministry of the Interior announced that protests would be held at 500 different locations across the country. In Paris, the march from Place de la République toward Place de Clichy began at 14:00 local time. In addition to the capital Paris, protests are also continuing, especially in the cities of Lyon, Marseille, Rennes, and Lille.
TENSION RISES BY THE MINUTE
Clashes broke out between police officers and protesters during the protests, which were also attended by demonstrators who gathered at and around the Republic Statue Monument.
Meanwhile, the Paris Police Department banned protests at important locations in the capital such as the Elysée Palace, the Prime Minister's Building, and the Champs-Élysées. Despite the ban, shop owners on the famous Champs-Élysées Avenue covered storefront windows with panels, and security forces were deployed along the avenue.
