The İzmir Metropolitan Municipality Council has set new public transportation fares that will be effective from September 1st. According to the new fare schedule, the full fare has been increased from 25 lira to 30 lira, the student fare from 10 lira to 15 lira, the teacher fare from 17.72 lira to 20 lira, and the fare for those aged 60 and over from 20 lira to 25 lira.

According to a statement from the municipality, the public transportation tariffs in the city were adjusted with the decisions made during the third meeting of the ordinary council session in August.
In this context, the full fare has been raised from 25 lira to 30 lira, the student fare from 10 lira to 15 lira, the teacher fare from 17.72 lira to 20 lira, and the fare for those over 60 years old has been increased from 20 lira to 25 lira.
Additionally, the monthly student subscription fee has also increased from 4.80 lira to 6.34 lira.
NEW REGULATION FOR İZBAN
It was stated that with a majority vote in the council, the 90-minute free transfer and Public Transport applications in İZBAN, which is 50% jointly owned by TCDD and the municipality, have been removed.
It was noted that the new system will be implemented once the technical infrastructure works to be carried out by İZBAN are completed, and that the İzmirim Card will continue to be valid on İZBAN, but passengers will not be able to benefit from the specified privileges.
