After the suspicious death of the powerful voice of Arabesque music, Güllü, many questions arose in people's minds, and the artist's daughter, Tuyan Ülkem, spoke out. Commenting on Güllü's confusing expression "What is that?" captured in the camera recordings, Ülkem said, "There was no problem between my mother and me. My mother was cheerful. In fact, she joined us laughing and said, 'What is that!' There were some who misinterpreted that sentence, but it reflects my mother's fun side."
The master of Arabesque music, known as "Güllü," Gül Tut, passed away on the night of September 26 after falling from the window of her sixth-floor apartment in Çınarcık, Yalova.
While Güllü's death plunged Turkey into mourning, questions such as whether she fell, was pushed, or jumped lingered in everyone's minds. Those who suspected her balance issues, the slippery floors in the house, and her words in the camera footage made various speculations. As the homicide department took over the case of the master artist's suspicious death, her daughter Tuyan Ülkem spoke for the first time about the theories.
"MY MOM DRANK THREE BOTTLES OF ALCOHOL"
Tuyan Ülkem, Güllü's daughter, stated in her remarks to Sabah, "That night, only my mom, my friend Sultan, and I were at home. My mom drank three bottles of alcohol. We did not consume alcohol or drugs. The claims made about us are completely unfounded."
"MY MOM JOINED US LAUGHING, SAYING 'WHAT IS THAT?'"
Speaking about Güllü's expression "What is that?" which many interpreted differently in the footage, Ülkem said, "There was no problem between my mom and me. My mom was cheerful. In fact, she joined us laughing, saying 'What is that!' Some misinterpreted that sentence, but it reflects my mom's fun side. We were dancing, and my mom joined us."
"I HEARD A LOUD NOISE, AND WHEN I TURNED, I COULDN'T SEE MY MOM"
Tuyan said, "Suddenly, I heard a loud noise. When I turned, I couldn't see my mom. The most distressing thing for us was that we couldn't even experience our mother's pain. Social media turned into a lynching ground. Some artists even made statements as if they were my mom's closest friends, but they neither came to the condolences nor to the funeral," she expressed.
GÜLLÜ'S FORENSIC REPORT HAS EMERGED
Camera footage, the balcony, and the points where the artist fell were examined in detail. As part of the investigation, a forensic report was released. No DNA traces of another person were found in the samples taken from Güllü. This strengthens the possibility that there was no struggle before the incident.
Additionally, on the day her mother died, Tuğberk Yağız Gülter, who was out of town with his fiancée, stated that there was no feud between his sister and mother and argued that the claims circulating on social media were unfounded.
THE CASE IS WITH THE HOMICIDE DEPARTMENT
Based on the claims and the obtained footage, the Yalova Chief Public Prosecutor's Office transferred the case to the Homicide Department.
Reasons for transferring the case to the Homicide Department:
- Contradictions in the audio recordings and information pollution
- Findings leading to the assessment of "suspicious death"
- Güllü's daughter's cries and her psychological state weakening the possibility of an accident
- Relatives' doubts that the incident was neither a murder nor a simple fall
- The claim that she "fell while dancing" in the reenactment being physically impossible
- The possibility that Güllü could have been pulled between the bed and the nightstand
- The artist's health issues and the presence of a plate in her back making it unlikely for her to play near the window.
SHE WAS EXPERIENCING BALANCE LOSS
Güllü's manager, Erhan Arı, stated on his social media account, using photos of Güllü taken in the hospital, "She had been experiencing balance loss for a long time. She had balance issues in her brain. We had tests done a week ago, and we were waiting for the results. I am very sad."
