During the visit, Putin, dressed in military uniform, received information from Chief of the General Staff Valery Gerasimov. Gerasimov informed Putin that Ukrainian troops were surrounded and stated that 430 Ukrainian soldiers had been captured.

"THEY WILL BE TREATED AS TERRORISTS"

Putin indicated that those captured should be treated as terrorists under Russian law, stating that they could be tried in Russian courts and could face decades in prison.

"WE WILL DEFEAT THE ENEMY AS SOON AS POSSIBLE"
