The Hatay Governorship announced that the neighborhood of Çamsarı in the Kırıkhan district has been declared a 'Rabies Risk Area' after it was determined that a pet dog that bit two people was rabid.
In a statement from the governorship, it was noted that a dog belonging to Mehmet Akkuş, living in the Acerköy area of Çamsarı neighborhood, bit a 10-year-old child and a 52-year-old citizen. The animal was placed under the supervision of the Kırıkhan District Food, Agriculture, and Livestock Directorate personnel, and the injured individuals have begun receiving vaccinations and treatment at the hospital.

In the statement, it was mentioned that the dog under supervision died after a while. "As a result of the laboratory examination, it has tested positive for rabies. A decision was made by the District Animal Health and Control Commission to declare the area a 'Rabies Risk Area,' and additional measures specified in the commission's decision have been urgently implemented. Furthermore, decisions taken by the District Hygiene Board have also been promptly put into action. The health status of the bitten citizens is currently good, and they are being regularly monitored by our Kırıkhan District Health Directorate and the relevant family physician," it was stated.
