Raid on counterfeit alcohol in Istanbul: Thousands of liters of illegal alcohol seized, 9 people detained.

With the increasing deaths due to counterfeit alcohol in Istanbul, the security teams have taken action. In operations conducted in 8 different districts, 32,862 liters of illegal alcohol were seized, and 9 suspects were arrested.

RAIDS ON NUMEROUS ADDRESSES

According to the information obtained, the teams of the Istanbul Police Department's Anti-Smuggling and Organized Crime Division carried out a large-scale operation targeting counterfeit alcohol production facilities and alcohol smugglers. In the investigations carried out within the framework of the ongoing inquiry, the identities and addresses of the suspects producing illegal alcohol from ethyl and methyl alcohols were identified one by one. Operations were conducted at the identified addresses and vehicles in Sultangazi, Fatih, Bakırköy, Küçükçekmece, Çatalca, Esenyurt, Zeytinburnu, and Beykoz.

9 PEOPLE DETAINED

In the raids, 9 suspects were arrested. During the searches at the mentioned addresses, 32,862 liters of illegal methyl and ethyl alcoholic liquid, 227 bottles of counterfeit alcohol, and a distillation machine were seized. Of the suspects captured during the operation, 3 were released after their procedures at the police station, while the statements of 6 suspects were reported to be ongoing at the police.
