In Istanbul, traffic density reached 85 percent in the evening hours due to the effect of rainy weather.
Traffic congestion occurred on main arteries, avenues and roads across Istanbul due to the evening rush hour and the effect of rain.
TRAFFIC CAME TO A STANDSTILL
On the European side, traffic congestion was experienced on the D-100 highway at locations including Yenibosna, Merter, Haliç Bridge, Halıcıoğlu, Okmeydanı and Mecidiyeköy, and at some points on the highway traffic came to a standstill at times. On the TEM Highway, the congestion starting from Hasdal and Seyrantepe locations extended to the Fatih Sultan Mehmet Bridge, while traffic progressed slowly at the İkitelli Masko and Mahmutbey toll plaza locations.
On Büyükdere Avenue, traffic congestion was observed between the Sarıyer direction and the Levent TEM junction roads, while vehicles moved with difficulty on the Karaköy-Beşiktaş coastal road and Barbaros Boulevard.
BRIDGES GRIDLOCKED WITH RAIN
On the Anatolian side, on the D-100 highway, congestion was experienced intermittently in both directions between the Kadıköy Uzunçayır and Maltepe Küçükyalı locations. Traffic was also moving heavily on the highway at the Kartal location in the Kadıköy direction.
Traffic congestion towards the 15 July Martyrs Bridge starts from the Altunizade location. Due to vehicle density during crossings to the European side, traffic on the bridge came to a standstill at times. Traffic starting from the Fatih Sultan Mehmet Bridge Anatolian direction exit continues along the TEM Highway up to the Ümraniye junction.
On the TEM Highway, traffic was also moving slowly at the Kurtköy Çamlıca Toll Plaza location. Due to the congestion, crowds were observed at some public transportation stops. According to data from IBB's CepTrafik application, the traffic density across the city reached 85 percent, measured as 85 percent on both sides.
