Fenerbahçe hosted the Scottish team Glasgow Rangers in the first match of the UEFA Europa League Round of 16 in Kadıköy. The two goals scored by the visiting team against the yellow-navy team in the second half were disallowed after VAR review.
DESSER'S GOALS OFFSIDE
The goal scored by Cyril Dessers in the 51st minute, after a rebound from İrfan Can, was ruled offside following a VAR review. In the 57th minute, Dessers found the net after a one-on-one situation following a run behind the defense, but VAR intervened once again and ruled the goal out.
OPENED THE SCORING IN THE 6TH MINUTE
Having two goals disallowed for offside, Dessers opened the scoring in the 6th minute of the match. After Szymanski lost the ball twice, it came to Skriniar. The ball cleared by Skriniar deflected off a Rangers player and fell in front of Dessers. Evading İrfan Can, Dessers took his shot, and then Çağlar Söyüncü intervened. The Spanish referee Gonzalez announced the goal decision with goal-line technology. Later, in the shown goal-line technology animation, it was revealed that the ball had crossed the line by a few millimeters.
