Nevşin Mengü's statement that she found the Atatürk signature on the Yıldırımhan missile introduced at SAHA EXPO 2026 'ironic' sparked controversy; her remarks drew intense backlash on social media.
While Turkey's steps in the defense industry are closely followed worldwide, the domestic production “Yıldırımhan” missile introduced at SAHA EXPO 2026 remains on the agenda. Developed by Roketsan and representing Turkey's technological level, the missile was presented to the public for the first time.
MENGÜ'S “ATATÜRK SIGNATURE” COMMENTARY
After the introduction of Yıldırımhan, journalist Nevşin Mengü also commented on the issue. In her broadcast on YouTube, Mengü described the signature of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk on the missile as “ironic.” Mengü said in her statement, "This is striking; there is the signature of Kemal Atatürk. Yıldırımhan will be produced by Roketsan. When I first saw this, upon seeing Atatürk's signature on it, I thought how ironic. It is noteworthy that the signature of a leader who said 'Peace at home, peace in the world' appears on such a missile."
DREW REACTION ON SOCIAL MEDIA
Mengü's words sparked debate on social media. Many users reacted to the statements and opposed criticisms regarding Turkey's developments in the defense industry. Some users commented, "You are disturbed by every good thing done in this country."
