After leaving Travis Scott's controversial concert in Istanbul, famous US social media streamer Auger took a taxi to his hotel in Taksim and was scammed by the driver who did not turn on the taximeter. Noticing that 136 dollars had been charged to his card for a short distance, the influencer broadcast the incident live. Upon his report, security forces imposed a record fine of 95,500 lira on the deceitful taxi driver.

US social media influencer Auger, who took a taxi from the event in Karaköy to his hotel in Taksim, was scammed by a driver who did not turn on the taximeter. After the influencer shared the moments live, police acted on his report and issued a record fine to the fraudulent taxi driver.
COULDN'T HIDE THE SCAM: CAUGHT ON LIVE STREAM
The incident occurred after the Travis Scott event held at an entertainment venue on Karaköy Tersane Street. US social media influencer Auger, who took a taxi to go to his hotel, opened a live stream for his followers at that moment. The moments before getting into the vehicle, where he agreed on the price with the taxi driver, were captured on camera. After reaching his hotel and paying with his card, Auger experienced the shock of his life.
CHARGED $136 FROM HIS CARD FOR A SHORT DISTANCE
After getting out of the vehicle, the US influencer checked his bank account and realized that a full 136 dollars (approximately 4,500 TL) had been deducted from his card for the very short distance between Karaköy and Taksim. Auger's video, in which he shared his grievance on social media and expressed his outrage, quickly went viral. Following the footage, the Traffic Enforcement Branch of the Istanbul Police Department launched an investigation at lightning speed.
RECORD FINE: FULL 95 THOUSAND 500 LIRA!
Police teams identified the taxi driver who took the influencer to his hotel as 43-year-old H.A. In an operation, the driver H.A. was caught along with the commercial taxi he used and taken into custody, receiving a barrage of fines.
Under the Highway Traffic Law, the taxi driver was fined a total of 95,500 lira for the following offenses:
Failure to use a taximeter in taxis providing service,
Failure to comply with road markings,
Failure to wear a seatbelt.
Judicial and administrative investigations are ongoing into the taxi driver scandal, which has been added to the chain of fiascos from Travis Scott's night that have ended up in court.
