Collective bargaining agreement negotiations between Austria-based Alpla Plastic, operating in the packaging sector, and the Petrol-İş Union concluded with a record raise. Base salaries were increased by 27 percent, the lowest gross employee wage rose to 153,000 TL, and workers celebrated the agreement with traditional folk dances accompanied by drums and zurna.
As part of the agreement reached between the Petrol-İş Union and Alpla Plastic, remarkable improvements were made in both salaries and social rights of employees working at the company's facilities in Turkey. Negotiations conducted between employer representatives and the union were completed with a comprehensive compromise on wages and employee rights.
REMARKABLE FIGURES IN SALARIES AND FRINGE BENEFITS
Under the contract, in addition to a 27 percent increase applied to workers' base wages, significant improvements were made in social rights. With these arrangements, the average net worker salary, excluding fringe benefits, settled at the 94,000 TL band, and with the addition of social rights, the lowest dressed salary reached 153,000 TL.
CONTRACT COVERS FOUR FACTORIES
This collective bargaining agreement, jointly conducted by the relevant regional branches of the Petrol-İş Union, secures personnel working in four different facilities of the company in Turkey. The agreement covers the company's main production facility in Kocaeli along with its factories in Gebze, Ankara, and Adana.
CELEBRATIONS WITH DRUM AND ZURNA AT FACTORIES
Following the announcement of the collective bargaining agreement's clauses and the record figures achieved to employees, great enthusiasm was experienced in the factories. Employees celebrated the wage increase and successful contract process by dancing halay accompanied by drum and zurna. These joyful and celebratory scenes in the factory areas quickly attracted attention.
