An indictment has been prepared against Ümit Özdağ, the leader of the Victory Party, with a request for imprisonment of up to 4 years and 8 months on the charge of insulting the President.
Özdağ, who was detained in the investigation initiated by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office regarding his statements about President Erdoğan, was arrested for inciting hatred and hostility against the public.
INDICTMENT PREPARED
An indictment was filed against Özdağ by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office for the crime of "insulting the President." The indictment stated that Özdağ's words and statements constituted the crime of insulting the President, and that the expressions attributed to him regarding the President were words and statements that would damage the honor, dignity, and respect of the President.
4 YEARS AND 8 MONTHS OF IMPRISONMENT SOUGHT
It was stated that there was sufficient suspicion to open a public case against Özdağ for the crime of "publicly insulting the President," and a sentence of 4 years and 8 months of imprisonment was requested.
