Former football player Mesut Özil denied claims that he would run for the presidency of the Turkish Football Federation (TFF). Özil stated that these claims do not reflect the truth and that his goal is to establish an academy in Turkey. He said, "There are many people making a lot of publicity in my name. All of it is a false story. My goal is to set up an academy in Turkey and support the new generations. Hopefully, I will achieve this goal as soon as possible."
Mesut Özil, a former football player of the Süper Lig team Fenerbahçe, who retired from football in 2023, responded to claims that he would run for the presidency of the Turkish Football Federation (TFF).

Speaking to GZT, Mesut Özil stated, "There are many who advertise on my behalf. All of them are false stories. My goal is to establish an academy in Turkey and support the new generations. I hope to achieve this goal as soon as possible." Mesut Özil, who wore the jerseys of Fenerbahçe and RAMS Başakşehir in Turkey, retired from football in March 2023.
