Özgür Özel, who was removed from the CHP General Chairmanship by a court decision, convened the MYK in the Turkish Grand National Assembly. In response to a question about Kılıçdaroğlu's FETÖ accusations, Group Deputy Chairman Murat Emir said, 'No one in our party has ever been subject to such accusations. These discussions and slanders have long been made by certain circles against Mr. Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu and his team—they are stale and outdated allegations.'
Özgür Özel, who was removed from the CHP Chairmanship by a court decision, convened the CHP Central Executive Board (MYK) at the Turkish Grand National Assembly (TBMM).
CHP TBMM Group Chairman Özgür Özel met with MYK members in the TBMM Group Executive Board Meeting Hall. Prior to the meeting, CHP Deputy Group Chairman Murat Emir answered questions from the press. Regarding the Group Meeting planned for Tuesday at the Parliament, Emir said, 'According to our regulations, bylaws, and parliamentary traditions, the Group Executive Board determines the time, agenda, and schedule of the Group General Assembly meeting. This legal basis has existed in our 100-year party for as long as I can remember. Next Tuesday is no different from previous Tuesdays.'
'THERE IS NO ROOM FOR DEBATE FROM OUR PERSPECTIVE'
Regarding Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu's objection petition concerning Özgür Özel's election as Group Chairman—after Kılıçdaroğlu returned to the CHP Chairmanship by court decision—Emir also stated, 'I am not aware of the content of that application; I haven't had the chance to review it. But the tradition and bylaws of this 100-year party are clear. When you look at it, the situation is very straightforward; therefore, there is no room for debate from our perspective.'
RESPONSE TO KILIÇDAROĞLU'S FETÖ ACCUSATION
Responding to the question, 'Kılıçdaroğlu raised the FETÖ and espionage debate yesterday. How do you evaluate this?' Emir said, 'No one in our party has ever been subject to such accusations. These discussions, these slanders, have long been directed at Mr. Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu and his working team by those circles; they are familiar, stale, and outdated lies. It is not possible to shift the debate to other points through these. Here, there are structures that protect the ballot box, defend the nation's will, seek the law, demand a convention, and believe that the party will only be led by cadres elected by party members. This is a struggle between them and those trying to create the Palace's CHP.'
WHAT DID KILIÇDAROĞLU SAY?
After 2.5 years, Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu came to the CHP headquarters and made statements, saying, 'Efforts to brand us as traitors are futile. This effort cannot turn us from our path. It is an indication of their own inadequacies and fears. I owe an apology to this noble nation and this devoted organization. I apologize for not noticing the FETÖ agents who insidiously infiltrated behind our backs for the future of this nation. I apologize for harboring in my bosom those heedless ones who, when we spoke of homeland and nation, sought help from foreign powers behind closed doors. I apologize for not cutting off the hoses of those who, by saving from your calloused hands and lawful earnings, turned them into appetizers for their own unlawful feasts. I apologize for not removing the masks of those who bargained over delegates at nightclub tables in time. I apologize before history and the sea of people for not dismissing those corrupt mayors involved in bribery and plunder in the people's municipality. I could not see those who used my clean politics to stab me in the back; forgive me,' he said.
