Retired Admiral Türker Ertürk was detained as part of an investigation launched against him over statements made in video content shared on his social media account.
The Bakırköy Chief Public Prosecutor's Office announced that an ex-officio investigation was launched regarding the statements made by retired Admiral Türker Ertürk in video content shared on his social media account. Ertürk was detained within the scope of the investigation.
It was announced that an ex-officio investigation was launched by the Bakırköy Chief Public Prosecutor's Office against retired Admiral Türker Ertürk due to the statements he made in a speech in a video shared on social media.

WHAT HAD HE SAID?
In his said speech, Türker Ertürk had used the following statements:
"Look, the government will change now; whether with pain or without pain. That is why everyone should come to their senses. That is why we expect the Supreme Election Council to make decisions according to their conscience and the law. Otherwise, we will face difficulties as a country in the future."
WHO IS TÜRKER ERTÜRK?
Ertürk, born in Trabzon in 1957, completed his primary education in Istanbul and his secondary education in Ankara and Trabzon.
He started at the Naval High School on Heybeliada in 1971. After graduating from high school and subsequently the Naval Academy, which was also on Heybeliada at that time, Türker Ertürk joined the navy ranks as an officer in 1979 and worked on ships for 15 years. He served as the National Plans Officer of the Naval Forces with the rank of Major, as the Chief of the Training and Exercise Section of the Fleet Command with the rank of Lieutenant Colonel, and as the Head of the Command Control Department of the Naval Forces with the rank of Colonel.
