RTÜK President Ebubekir Şahin's Notable Warning Regarding the 'Narin Güran' Case

The President of the Radio and Television Supreme Council, Ebubekir Şahin, made a striking warning on his social media account regarding the hearing of the 'Narin Güran murder' case, which will take place tomorrow.

RTÜK President Şahin shared a post on his social media account about the new hearing of the Narin Güran murder case, which will take place tomorrow. Stating that the media challenged broadcasting principles during the initial investigation, Şahin said, "We expect responsibility and sensitivity from our media during and after the hearing. Unfortunately, during the first investigation phase, our media, which violated broadcasting principles, I insist that they be extremely careful this time. Our goal is to uncover the truth."

Emphasizing that the evidence under confidentiality should not be disclosed, Şahin stated, "It is essential to avoid behaviors that would undermine the outcome, such as the disclosure of evidence that falls under confidentiality. Our law and the audiovisual media ethical principles that all our broadcasters have approved by signing are clear. Necessary legal sanctions will be applied against irresponsible broadcasters who do not comply with these principles. I would like to remind you strongly, thank our principled journalists, and wish them success," he added.

NARIN GÜRAN MURDER CASE

The mother Yüksel, brother Enes, and uncle Salim Güran of Narin Güran, who went missing in the Tavşantepe neighborhood of the Bağlar district on August 21 and whose lifeless body was found in the Eğertutmaz stream on September 8, are being tried for "intentional murder of a child in participation" with aggravated life imprisonment. The second hearing of the case will be held tomorrow. In the case where the public prosecutor presented his opinion, the trial of the four defendants will continue at the Diyarbakır 8th Heavy Criminal Court.
