Russian President Vladimir Putin and Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian signed an agreement establishing a strategic partnership between the two countries. According to the agreement, the two countries will act together against common military threats, conduct joint military exercises, and enhance cooperation in the military-technical field.

JOINT ACTION AGAINST COMMON MILITARY THREATS

According to a statement from the Kremlin, the two countries will act together against common military threats in accordance with the agreement, conduct joint military exercises, and develop cooperation in the military-technical field. In the agreement, it is stated that if one of the countries is attacked, the other country commits not to support the attacking side, and the parties will not allow their territories to be used by separatist movements that could harm the stability of the other country. The agreement also envisions the enhancement of cooperation between the intelligence and security agencies of the two countries, with plans to increase mutual information and experience sharing.

ENERGY AND TRADE

The agreement anticipates that energy companies in Russia and Iran will increase mutual cooperation and investments in natural gas and oil, stating, "Both parties will work on long-term joint projects regarding the peaceful use of nuclear energy, including the construction of nuclear power plants." According to the agreement, the two countries will work on establishing an independent payment system and strengthening cooperation between banks.
