PASSENGER TRAIN HIT IN ODESA: 2 DEAD
Ukraine's State Emergency Service reported via Telegram that a Russian attack hit a passenger train in the Berezivka district of the Odesa region, killing two people. It was stated that a fire that broke out in the locomotive as a result of the attack was later extinguished.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, in a statement on the US-based social media platform X, claimed that the train was hit by a jet-powered UAV.
Zelensky said, "There were 340 people on the train. It was impossible for the person using that UAV not to know that the target was completely civilian. If the world is serious about stopping this war in Europe, more air defense support and more pressure on Russia are needed."
The Izmail District State Administration reported that Russian attacks caused damage and a fire in the infrastructure of the Izmail Port on the Danube River, near the Romanian border in the Odesa region, and that power outages occurred in the southeast of the city due to damage to the electrical grid.
133 UAVS LAUNCHED
The Ukrainian Air Force announced that 111 of the 133 UAVs launched by Russia during the night were shot down. The Russian Ministry of Defense, on the other hand, claimed that it struck a deployment point of the Ukrainian army at the Izmail Port, as well as port infrastructure where military cargo was unloaded and stored, and a command center of the Ukrainian Navy at the nearby Reni Port.
ATTACKS IN RUSSIA
The Russian Ministry of Defense reported that its air defense systems shot down a total of 362 Ukrainian UAVs over 17 regions, as well as over the Black Sea, the Sea of Azov, and Crimea, which was illegally annexed in 2014. The Head of the Republic of Bashkortostan, Radiy Khabirov, announced that two people were injured in an attack on a logistics center in the Chishminsky district, and that fragments of a downed UAV caused a fire in an industrial area in the city of Salavat. The Russian online shopping platform Wildberries, which has a facility in the region, reported that a precautionary evacuation was carried out due to the fire. The Ukrainian General Staff later announced that it had targeted the Gazprom Neftekhim oil refinery in Salavat, stating the facility was hit and a fire broke out.
