In a statement on his social media account, Zelensky said Russia launched a drone strike on an infrastructure facility around the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant.
Ukrainian President Zelensky stated, "Today, the Russians again attacked the special zone around the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant. A Shahed (type drone) hit one of the buildings of the Central Spent Nuclear Fuel Storage Facility. It is an extremely critical infrastructure facility and an extremely low Russian attack."
"RADIATION LEVELS ARE NOT ABOVE NORMAL VALUES"
Zelensky, noting that the Ukrainian government continues efforts to inform allied countries about this attack, said, "Russia deliberately attacked this nuclear infrastructure facility. Currently, radiation levels are not above normal values."
Reporting that the Russian army carried out an airstrike on 13 regions of the country tonight, Zelensky noted that Russia has launched 88 missiles, over 3,250 drones, and approximately 1,800 guided bombs against Ukraine in the past week.
