The lifeless body of 13-year-old Metin Çağlayan, who went missing in an irrigation pond in Bingöl yesterday, was found today. It was learned that his friends did not report the situation to anyone because they were scared, and they told about Metin's disappearance only when his family questioned them in the evening.

METİN DISAPPEARED FROM SIGHT
The incident occurred yesterday at the irrigation pond in Servi village, part of the Genç district. Two of three friends who went to the pond's edge to cool off entered the water. After a while, Metin Çağlayan disappeared from sight.
FRIENDS TOLD THE SITUATION IN THE EVENING
The children, frightened by the incident, did not tell anyone what happened. In the evening, upon questioning by the Çağlayan family, they said they went to the pond and Metin disappeared in the water.
SAD NEWS CAME IN THE MORNING HOURS
Following the report, gendarmerie and AFAD teams were dispatched to the area. Diver teams from the Diyarbakır AFAD Provincial Directorate also supported the search efforts that began in the night. In the morning hours, searches at the spot pointed out by the other children led to the discovery of Metin Çağlayan's lifeless body.
The boy's body, recovered from the water, was taken to the Genç State Hospital morgue for autopsy procedures.
An investigation has been launched into the incident.
